We have had this pair of Shun kitchen shears for eight months now and they have never failed to operate as advertised. My wife and I are very excited to have these shears in our procession in the kitchen. These shears will cut delicate erbs and chicken bones with the same proficiently.
We highly recommend these Shun kitchen shears to anyone who has a kitchen!

I love Shun and I love these kitchen shears. The whole thing is very heavy duty and feels of quality and durability. If you open it up all the way, it unhinges very easily for ease of cleaning. When you put it back together, it’s solid again. It’s very easy to do and does not sacrifice sturdiness. These are all purpose kitchen shears and I can’t think of any improvements. The handle is made of some heavy duty plastic that’s lines for non-slip. It’s very rugged and utilitarian, but I’m not that hot about plastic. Luckily, it looks good and the quality and feel still can’t be beat.

Yes, these are very heavy and sturdy home use shears. High price for shears, but you get what ya pay for. Amazon price was lowest (for once) I could find at time item needed. Solid throughout the loop handles. Highly recommend.

These are excellent shears. Very durable and the attached tools such as the bottle opener, nut cracker, bone notch, lid lifter, etc., actually are useful.
Being able to separate the shears for washing after cutting something like chicken is very nice and sanitary. I’ve taken the blades apart many times for cleaning and they have not become loose and fit together nice and tight.
The shears don’t say Shun or have their markings. It’s made by Kershaw, the company that owns Shun and I don’t believe these shears are made in Japan at the Shun factory.
One complaint is not about the shears, but that in the 7 piece set of Shun knives it would have been nice to have one of the utility blades removed and this shear instead.
These shears are excellent and if you need a set I don’t think you will be disappointed. They should last a lifetime, even under hard use.

Nice, sharp shears, well made and comfortable to use. Come apart easily for cleaning. I have 3 Shun knives as well, 2 classics (granton chefs and paring knife), and a Shun Kaji chef knife, (pricey but worth the money). I work as a Chef and have found these knives hold an edge better then any thing else I’ve used, (Wusthof, Henckels etc.) I sharpen them every week or 2, and hit them with a steel daily. That’s all the maintence they require (and I use these commercially). They are very sharp, I recommend the Shun line to my cooks. My Shun classic developed a vertical crack near the tip of the blade, (it fell on the floor a few times). It may have contributed to the crack on the blade. Any way I sent it to there repair facility to see what they would do. Within a few weeks they sent me a brand new one! I doubt you’ll be disapointed with these shears, and Shun stands behind there cutlery.

I cut up at least a pound of chicken wings every day (365 days a year) for our dogs. I’ve had numerous other poultry shears, less and more costly than this pair – but none as good. They make a tedious chore into an easy chore – what else is there to say? Could do without the screwdriver bit and the bottle opener; perhaps it was intended to be a Survival Tool. Anyway – buy’em and cut away.

Ordered these two days ago and already received via Amazon Prime so got a decent price and fast free shipping. I was pleased with the shears when they arrived and look like they will do the job though I have not tried cutting chicken yet which seems to be how most here have rated them. But I need to note, as others have briefly stated, these are not “Shun” though the package does say Shun. Nowhere on the blades or anywhere else will you find the name Shun, just the package. Rather these are Kershaw Taskmaster. Some noted that it was fine because Kershaw makes Shun. That may be true but the fact is these are branded Kershaw Task Master and they are stamped on the blade #1120 Japan. Well if you look up Task Master they offer this exact model (#1120) stamped exactly the same. If you order the Model 1120 Kershaw Task Master you will get this exact set of shears. You won’t get a similar one that has a different model or is stamped Shun or anything else. You have a choice, you can order thse and pay for Shun or you can save yourself about $8.00 and order the Kershaw. I know that seems like a small amount, but to get the exact same thing, it only makes sense to order the cheaper one.
This is not a knock on the shears themselves. They are fine and I am pleased. Just be aware that you get the exact same thing by ordering a cheaper version.

Next to my chef’s knife, this is the number one most used tool in my kitchen! These shears cut smoothly & easily, they’re sharp enough for any task you might want to put them to. They’re also sturdy and comfortable, the plastic handle doesn’t slip or slide. They disassemble easily for cleaning, but stay solidly together when you want them together. The add-on features like bone notch and bottle opener all work well, but I like the notches on the inside of the handle, which are meant to be grips for opening jars and such. This is a genuine multitasker and does about a dozen different tasks (and does them well).
The plastic sheath shown in the picture has a magnet attached, designed to stick to your fridge, oven, or hood. This might be handy for those of you without space in your knife block or drawer but these shears are magnetic themselves so I just stick them along side the rest of my cutlery on my magnetic strip.
One note about branding: Shun is owned by Kershaw. These shears are marketed as part of the Shun cutlery sets, but mine say Kershaw on the blade. Don’t sweat it- the names are basically interchangeable. The Kershaw brand makes some great utility/pocket knives, by the way. I owned Kershaw knives long before I ever bought my first Shun. And if you’re a really observant fan of Good Eats, you’ll notice that Alton Brown’s pocket knife is a Kershaw

These shears are great for all kinds of things around the house besides just in the kitchen. They have always felt sturdy and you can feel the quality when you’re cutting things from herbs to chicken. I would highly recommend these if you want a pair of shears that you want to keep for a very long time.

Well . . . my wife likes them. They seem to cut chicken well, come apart for a thorough cleaning, and cut herbs and vegetables too. They don’t fall apart when in use as the blades have to be fully opened to come apart. My observation is that the fulcrum of these shears is small and therefore I wonder how sturdy it is. So far, the metal seems to be of very high quality and the contact points are finely machined. Still, I think it should be larger to be stronger – so far, so good.
